First Generation:
Klaas William Nagel was born February 21, 1851 in Siemonswalde, Osterieland, Germany. He was a sailor in the German Navy and sailed the seas for many years. As a young man, he lived and worked in New Zealand. Klaas married Folke Schoenemann February 21, 1890 or 1891 and came to Iowa the same year. They had 2 children that survived, William “Bill” Klaason Nagel and Betty Nagel. 1. William “Bill” Klaason Nagel was born July 12, 1892. He married Clifford O’Hara’s widow, Anabelle. Bill died October 3, 1970. He is buried in the Hamilton Cemetery. 2. Wübko “Betty” Nagel was born March 16, 1897. She married Wesley Richmond O’Hara. They had 2 children, Annie Francis and Florence Mae O’Hara.
Three girls
died in infancy in Iowa. Folke died July 2, 1899. Klaas married Folke’s sister
Gracie December 12, 1901. Gracie’s mother, Wübko was living with the family in
1910. Wübko and William were witnesses to their marriage.
Their children were Gertie Nagel,and Helmer “Joker” Nagel, and Annie Nagel.
Gracie died February 2, 1907 3. Gertie Nagel was born April 3, 1902. She died April 9, 1971 and is buried in the Hamilton Cemetery. 4. Helmer “Joker” Nagel was born June 5, 1903. He lived on his father’s farm until his death January 3, 1984.

Anne
Nagel was born December 27, 1905. She married George Bowers. They had 2
daughters, Marian, born June 20, 1934 and Violet, born March 8, 1936. The
family lost their lives in an early morning fire, March 11, 1948. It is
believed that when George went down to light the fire and threw coal oil on the
banked embers, the fire flared up. They are buried in the Hamilton Cemetery. Second Generation:
Wübko “Betty” Nagel was born March 15, 1897. The only place that the name “Wübko” was found was on the 1910 census. She married Wesley Richmond O’Hara August 2, 1918 in Cavalier, North Dakota. Betty and Wesley had 2 daughters, Annie Francis O’Hara and Florence Mae O’Hara. Wesley died August 19, 1970 and is buried in Cavalier, North Dakota. Betty died October 3, 1982 and is buried in Oceanside, California.
